SHILLONG, March 31: The Sri Aurobindo Society (SAS) and the State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to transform inclusive education across Meghalaya. Their agreement will implement Project Inclusion in all government schools statewide.
The partnership commits to a five-year plan to build inclusive classrooms and to ensure that children with diverse learning needs receive appropriate support within the mainstream education system.
Under the initiative, the programme will be implemented across all districts, ensuring statewide coverage. A key component focuses on empowering teachers through specialised training to identify and support students with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and intellectual disabilities.
The initiative will also integrate digital tools through the Project Inclusion App, enabling educators to move from basic sensitisation to structured screening and the implementation of targeted classroom interventions for students requiring additional support.
In addition, the programme places emphasis on professional development, with special educators set to receive 50 Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)-approved Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) points through a dedicated digital training module.
Officials stated that the collaboration is expected to enhance the state’s education system capacity to deliver equitable and inclusive learning outcomes, in line with broader national goals of ensuring accessible and quality education for all.
