Hek bats for talks on FCRA Bill

SHILLONG, April 1: Senior BJP leader A.L. Hek has urged the party’s central leadership to engage in meaningful engagement with stakeholders before the Foreign Contribution Regulation (Amendment) Bill, is passed.
In a letter addressed to BJP president Nitin Nabin and Home Minister Amit Shah, he highlighted the philanthropic activities carried out by non-profit organisations, including the Church, in Meghalaya which impacts the life of citizens.
Hek also urged that a balance be maintained between ensuring accountability and maintaining functional independence of credible non-profit organisations.
