SHILLONG, April 6: The Joint Action Committee of the Muster Roll Workers Union (JACMRWU) on Monday expressed concern over the state government’s silence regarding its request for an appointment with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, originally submitted on November 27 last year.
The union wants to discuss grievances related to the welfare, service conditions, and rights of muster roll and casual workers. In a letter to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), JACMRWU General Secretary Bympher Lyndem stated that despite repeated follow-ups, the union has received no communication.
Lyndem noted that the issues are of urgent importance to a large number of workers.
The union has appealed to the Chief Minister to grant a meeting at the earliest, expressing hope that a formal dialogue will lead to a constructive resolution of their long-pending demands.
