Shillong, April 7: The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) has released the names of those players who have been approved for transfer between districts for 2026.
There were 278 players in all who applied for and completed transfer formalities. This was down from 329 in 2025 but still considerably more than the 122 in 2024.
The transfer window closed on 31 March.
Teams affiliated to the Shillong Sports Association signed 80 players from other district associations. Clubs belonging to the Thadlaskein Sports Association (56) and East Jaintia Hills District Football Association (42) were also highly active during the transfer window.
Clubs will have used the transfer window to strengthen their squads before their respective district associations conduct their local leagues for 2026 and just before the start of the 5th Meghalaya State League, organised by the MFA for the top-ranked clubs in the state, which will begin later this month.
In sharing the list of approved transfers, MFA General Secretary Sunesh Syiem reminded all the district associations that no player can play for more than one district sports association in a single calendar year.
“Please note that if any player is found to violate these guidelines, both the player as well as the district association will face action by the MFA as deemed fit,” he added.
