GUWAHATI, April 9: The Karbi Anglong district administration has initiated an inquiry into the circulation of a video on social media purportedly showing the election process inside a polling station in the district on Thursday.
The probe follows the registration of an FIR by the district administration after taking serious cognisance of the matter under relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
“An inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the facts and identify those responsible. Appropriate legal action will be taken against any violations of election laws,” an official statement said.
“The district administration reiterates its commitment to ensuring that the electoral process remains free, fair and transparent. Strict vigilance is being maintained, and all necessary steps are being taken to uphold the integrity of the ongoing elections,” it said.
