3 held for steling rifle from MCCL factory in Sohra

SHILLONG, April 14: East Khasi Hills Police have arrested three youths in connection with the theft of a .303 rifle from the MCCL factory in Sohra.
Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem on Tuesday informed that the incident came to light on April 11 when Home Guards personnel on duty at the MCCL Factory reported that a .303 rifle was missing from the store room. Following the report, an FIR was lodged at Sohra Police Station.
During the course of investigation, police picked up two suspects—Shaiborlang Jyrwa (21) of Marai Thymmai and Sawbor Sooting (20) of Mawkisyiem—for interrogation on Tuesday evening.
Both reportedly confessed to stealing the rifle from the Administrative Building of the MCCL.
The stolen rifle was recovered from a house in Mawkisyiem belonging to the grandmother of one of the accused, the SP informed.
Police later apprehended a third accused, Teilang Sohkhia (19) of Marai Thymmai, in connection with the case.
All three accused have been arrested and will be to be produced before the court on Wednesday.
