Nongpoh, April 14: In a contest that ebbed and flowed before settling into certainty, Pantah 12 Panthers held their nerve to clinch the Pahamsning T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 title, defeating Nongkhyllem Tigers by 33 runs in the final at Pahamsning, Nongkhrah village in Ri Bhoi district on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pantah 12 Panthers stitched together a competitive 158 for 7 in their 20 overs. The innings found its anchor in Wallam Kharbithai, who crafted a patient yet vital 61 off 55 balls, guiding his side to a total that proved just beyond reach.
Chasing 159, Nongkhyllem Tigers faltered against a disciplined bowling attack and could only manage 127 for 7 in their allotted overs, falling short despite their efforts and handing the Panthers a well-deserved victory.
The final was attended by Wailadmiki Shylla, Minister in charge of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with Rona Khymdeit and Rayonald Kharkamni.
Officials from the Meghalaya Cricket Association and the Ri Bhoi District Cricket Association were also present, adding to the occasion.
For their triumph, Pantah 12 Panthers were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with the championship trophy. Kharbithai, for his match-winning knock, was named both Player of the Match and Best Batter, while Laxman Gurung of Nongkhyllem Tigers walked away with the Best Bowler award.
The event also carried a sense of history, as the organisers took a moment to honour the founding members of the Ri Bhoi District Cricket Association from 1995, recognising their enduring contribution to the growth of cricket in the region.
