NONGPOH, April 15: Ri-Bhoi police have arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting his nine-year-old daughter repeatedly over the past year.
The matter came to light after relatives heard rumours from villagers regarding the father’s behaviour. When questioned by her family, the girl confessed to the abuse, prompting them to file a formal police complaint.
It may be mentioned that the victim had been managing household responsibilities and caring for her three younger siblings since her mother left the family some time ago.
Following the complaint, police registered a case and apprehended the accused. An investigation is currently under way.
