TURA, April 16: Several organisations from Dobu in East Garo Hills, along with local Nokmas and villagers, have petitioned Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma to intervene and make the long-completed Dobu Veterinary Centre operational.
The groups, including AHAM, FKJGP and GSU, informed Sangma that the building has existed since 2014 but remains non-functional due to the absence of permanent doctors and staff.
They noted that while some staff from Rongjeng occasionally attend to the centre, there is an urgent need for a dedicated team.
“As of now, cattle and poultry farmers are facing grave difficulties due to the absence of a veterinary doctor and staff at the centre,” the local groups stated in their representation.
According to the organisations, multiple representations previously submitted to the state government failed to elicit a response, prompting them to seek the Opposition leader’s assistance.
“We request and hope you will take our demand to the government to appoint a permanent doctor and staff immediately, thereby making the office operational,” the representation added.
