BAREILLY, April 18: A 50-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight in a suspected case of old enmity in a village here on Saturday morning.
The deceased, identified as Kallu alias Kalyan, had gone to the fields when assailants, who were allegedly lying in wait, fired at him indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Heavy police deployment has been made in the village to maintain law and order, and raids are being conducted to nab the accused, police said.
Adding that two persons have been taken into custody for questioning.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder stemmed from a long-standing dispute, apparently linked to a land-related rivalry, officials said. (PTI)
