SHILLONG, April 22: A three-month residential filmmaking internship for the state’s youth under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme was launched by the Commerce and Industries department. The initiative, which began on Wednesday, is being held in collaboration with the Prag Film and Television Institute (PFTI) in Guwahati.
A total of 60 interns from various districts were selected for the inaugural batch. To support the participants, the state government is providing a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 for the duration of the programme. The initiative is designed to enhance skill development, employability, and entrepreneurship within the creative and media industries.
The curriculum at PFTI covers the full production cycle, including pre-production, filming, and post-production. This hands-on training provides interns with experience in both the technical and creative aspects of film and television.
Officials stated that the programme is a step toward strengthening the state’s creative economy. By nurturing local talent and encouraging storytelling rooted in Meghalaya, the government aims to create new career and business opportunities for young people in the media and entertainment sectors.
