Shillong, April 23: A goal by super sub Bankheinlang Rongring gave Janepih YSCA a 1-0 victory against A’chik SCO Rongjeng in a competitive Group G match of the 5th Meghalaya State League in Williamnagar on Thursday.
This was Janepih’s third win on the trot but also their hardest-fought contest. They are top of the group with 9 points and have also yet to concede a single goal in the competition. ASCOR played well but had to accept a second defeat in three games. They have 3 points and are fourth out of five teams.
With under 10 minutes of regulation time left, Bankheinlang scored the lone goal of the match to give Janepih victory. This came just five minutes after he was introduced as a substitute. There has been a change to the fixtures in Group A, with two matches now slated to take place on Friday. The first, at 1pm, will feature Umkaber SCC and Khimusniang SC.
This will be followed by Nongkseh SSCC versus Mawshun SCC at 5pm. All the other fixtures in the other groups remain the same, with kick-off at 3pm.
