SHILLONG, April 23: Kennedy Khongsit, accused in the murder of 39-year-old Eilang Phawa and a seven-year-old boy in Nongrah, is set to be charge-sheeted within 90 days, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said.
The accused has been declared mentally stable after medical assessment.
Syiem informed that Khongsit is currently in judicial custody and will remain so until the chargesheet is filed. He added that the accused has admitted to the crimes and has also demonstrated to investigators how the murders were carried out.
Khongsit was arrested following investigation into the murder of a seven-year-old boy on October 8, 2025. He was also found to be the prime accused in murder of Eilang Phawa, whose body was recovered on April 6.
