Meghalaya girl bags natl scholarship in Bharatanatyam

SHILLONG, April 26: Teara Ianchi D Sangma has been awarded the CCRT Junior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Congratulating her on the achievement, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma noted that Teara is the first Garo girl to receive the honour.
A student at the Gitanjali Dance Academy in Shillong, her selection marks a significant milestone for tribal youth in Meghalaya.
The chief minister described the award as a proud moment for the state, reflecting the growing presence of local talent on national cultural platforms.
He expressed hope that her success would inspire more young people to pursue classical art forms and contribute to preserving the country’s cultural heritage.
