Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller Dhurandhar (Part One), starring Ranveer Singh, will release in Japan on July 10, 2026. Produced by Jio Studios, the film is the first part of a spy saga and has earned over Rs 1,328 crore worldwide since its December 2025 release.
The film has broken multiple records globally, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film in North America and the top Indian film in Canada and Australia, while also performing strongly in the UK.
Its mix of action, drama, and engaging storytelling is expected to appeal to Japanese audiences.
Dhurandhar did not release in several Middle Eastern countries, reportedly due to its anti-Pakistan theme.
The story follows an Indian intelligence agent, played by Singh, who goes undercover in Pakistan’s criminal underworld to dismantle a terror network. It is inspired by real events such as the IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released in March 2026 and has earned nearly Rs 1,800 crore worldwide. (PTI)
