SHILLONG, May 1: Stakeholders of deficit grant-in-aid schools and colleges, Meghalaya, have announced a statewide poster campaign to protest against the newly notified Meghalaya Non-Government Schools and Colleges Employees Centralised Fund Scheme, 2026.
The statewide poster campaign will be held across the districts of Meghalaya on Monday.
The campaign is organised as a peaceful democratic expression of the concerns of teaching and non-teaching employees, including retired staff members, over the proposed scheme, which has been unanimously rejected by the affected stakeholders.
The stakeholders maintain that the scheme affects the financial security of thousands of employees of deficit grant-in-aid institutions and overlooks established legal safeguards.
Through the campaign, stakeholders will appeal to the state government to respect the legitimate rights of employees, uphold existing legal provisions, and refrain from imposing any policy detrimental to the welfare of serving and retired staff.
The stakeholders have informed that affected teaching and non-teaching employees from deficit grant-in-aid schools and colleges across Meghalaya will participate in the campaign by displaying placards and posters at their respective institutions and designated public spaces.
The stakeholders further stated that this united action is intended to reiterate their demand for justice, transparency, and protection of their lifetime savings.
