KYIV, May 2: Two people were killed and seven others injured after a Russian drone struck a minibus in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, local officials said.
Regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported that a second minibus was also hit later the same day, injuring the driver.
The attacks are part of continued Russian strikes on civilian areas amid the ongoing full-scale war in Ukraine.
On the Black Sea coast, a Russian strike damaged port infrastructure in Odesa, though no casualties were reported.
Ukrainian cities have been under persistent aerial bombardment, while diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire have so far failed, with both sides unable to agree on terms to end the conflict.
On the front line, Russia claimed it had captured the village of Myropillia in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region.
The claim could not be independently verified, and Ukrainian authorities did not immediately comment.
In Russia’s Krasnodar region, officials said a fire at an oil terminal in Tuapse—caused by a Ukrainian drone strike—was extinguished on Saturday.
The facility has been repeatedly targeted in recent weeks as Ukraine escalates long-range attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
These strikes are aimed at reducing Moscow’s oil revenues, a major source of funding for its war effort.
However, the overall economic impact remains uncertain, with global oil price fluctuations and shifting sanctions dynamics helping offset some losses for Russia. (AP)
