TURA, May 3: The Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers and Employees Association will launch a poster campaign across school compounds in the region on Monday in protest against the recently Cabinet-approved Meghalaya Non-Government Schools and College Employees Centralised Provident Fund Scheme, 2026.
The association claims the 2026 scheme contradicts the provisions of the 2023 CPF Scheme, which deficit school teachers had already accepted.
“The Meghalaya CPF Pension Scheme Act, 2026, contradicts the provisions of the CPF Scheme of 2023. Therefore, we demand that the Pension Scheme of 2023 be implemented for teachers of deficit schools and colleges who were appointed before 2010,” the association stated in a press release.
The teachers are also demanding that the National Pension Scheme (NPS) be implemented in its “truest form” for those appointed before 2010.
It may be mentioned that the 2026 scheme was recently cleared by the state Cabinet for implementation in non-government educational institutions across Meghalaya.
