Tura, May 5: The ASPF CEB based in Tura on Tuesday raised the issue of inconveniences faced by the people of Ampati and Purakhasia areas due to the ongoing construction of the PMGSY road between the two places and has urged the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter.
“The current state of the road, particularly during the rainy season, has resulted in significant challenges. The road becomes excessively muddy, making it difficult for vehicles and pedestrians to navigate safely. Furthermore, the absence of an alternative subway at the Chepagri bridge construction site exacerbates these difficulties, particularly during periods of heavy rain and strong water currents in the river,” it said, in its complaint to the DC
As per the organization, the said section of the road plays a crucial role in supporting the economic activities of local farmers and is essential for students, office-goers, and the general public, given its connection to the district headquarters.
Pointing out that the progress on the road has been stalled for an extended period with no developments being witnessed for several months, it urged the District Administration to look into the matter.
