Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women on Thursday over controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar.
She apologised, stating there was “no intention to offend anybody,” while acknowledging her responsibility as an artist.
Fatehi said she had been unintentionally placed in the situation and confirmed that her response had been submitted in writing.
She also announced a social initiative, saying she will sponsor the education of a few orphan girls as a way of giving back to society.
Earlier, Fatehi distanced herself from the Hindi version of the song, claiming she had only shot the Kannada version and that her consent was not taken for the Hindi adaptation.
The Hindi version, released on March 15, faced backlash over allegedly explicit lyrics and was later removed from YouTube, though it continued circulating online. Other members involved in the project have also issued apologies. (PTI)
