SHILLONG, May 10: Former Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang resigned from the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) along with his supporters on Saturday.
The decision was finalised during a meeting at Marbaniang’s residence in Rambrai. Following their exit, Marbaniang and his supporters announced the formation of the Rambrai-Jyrngam United People’s Forum.
Sources said the forum intends to consolidate support and develop a political strategy for the upcoming Shillong Parliamentary by-election and the 2028 Meghalaya Assembly elections.
Marbaniang has been named chairman of the forum, while Kitboklang will serve as secretary. The forum is yet to decide which candidate or party it will support in the forthcoming parliamentary by-election.
