Jaipur, May 12: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP government over the alleged NEET (UG) examination irregularities, stating that the cancellation of the exam itself proves that large-scale malpractice had taken place. The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on May 3, following approval from the Central government.

Fresh dates for the examination will be announced soon, said officials. Gehlot, meanwhile, alleged that the Rajasthan government deliberately attempted to suppress the matter for nearly two weeks, thereby “playing with the future of lakhs of youth”. He said the decision of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel the examination and hand over the probe to the CBI was a “bold step taken in the interest of students and fairness”. “The cancellation of the NEET (UG) examination clearly indicates that irregularities occurred on a massive scale. Instead of taking immediate action, the BJP government in Rajasthan tried to cover up the issue,” Gehlot said.

He further said, “The BJP government in Rajasthan had previously concealed the OMR sheet scam involving the Staff Selection Board to avoid bringing disrepute to the administration. Due to weak legal representation, the accused in that case were even granted bail. Similarly, an attempt was made this time as well to suppress information regarding the NEET (UG) exam leak; in fact, not even an FIR was registered. Now, the truth has come to light, and the true face of the BJP government stands exposed.”

“An attempt was made this time as well to suppress information related to the NEET (UG) paper leak. Shockingly, not even an FIR was registered initially. Now the truth has come out, exposing the real face of the BJP government,” said the former Chief Minister. Further, to ensure a thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding the examination, the Centre has decided to hand over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The NTA stated that it will fully cooperate with the CBI and provide all necessary documents, records, and assistance required for the investigation. The agency also noted that it had earlier issued a press release regarding the NEET (UG) 2026 examination 2026.
