SHILLONG, May 13: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) RIST-USTM Unit on Wednesday met University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque to address grievances regarding student welfare, hygiene and health on campus.
The student body raised concerns about poor sanitation and inadequate cleanliness in several campus areas. They also highlighted specific complaints regarding the quality of food served in hostels, particularly allegations of impurities found in meals at Hostel B.
The union submitted a written representation to the authorities, demanding immediate intervention to safeguard the health and safety of resident students.
In addition to the meeting, the KSU conducted inspections of shops both inside and outside the university premises.
During these visits, the delegation urged shop owners to maintain strict hygiene standards to protect the well-being of the student community.
The KSU RIST-USTM Unit stated it would continue to monitor the situation to ensure the rights and health of students are upheld.
