SHILLONG, May 14: Shillong Technology Park-II secured its first confirmed occupant on Thursday, with StaffFlex Resolutions LLP signing a lease agreement with the Meghalaya Technology Parks Society. The deal was finalized during the NASSCOM Industry Leaders’ Meet 2026 held at the State Convention Centre.
The event, organized by the Information Technology and Communications Department in collaboration with NASSCOM, brought together government officials and tech leaders to discuss expanding Meghalaya’s digital economy and skilling opportunities.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who witnessed the signing, stated that the development of the state’s IT sector has been a gradual process focused on building a sustainable ecosystem. He informed the gathering that while the second IT Park in Shillong is now ready, work is also under way for a similar facility in Tura to strengthen digital infrastructure across the state.
Sangma emphasised that the government is focused on achieving “meaningful and sustainable outcomes” rather than signing agreements merely for publicity.
During a roundtable interaction, industry representatives suggested the creation of an innovation hub and a dedicated startup task force. They also highlighted the importance of future-ready training in areas such as artificial intelligence, prompt engineering, and cyber hygiene, alongside the need for a stronger single-window system for regulatory clearances.
The meet was attended by representatives from major firms, including Wipro, Tec Mahindra, Infosys BPM, Concentrix, and TaskUs. Discussions also focused on improving connectivity and fostering industry-academia partnerships to enhance the state’s talent pipeline.
