Actor Alia Bhatt went viral after responding to a troll following her appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where she attended as a global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.
The actor had recently turned heads on the red carpet with glamorous looks, including a custom ivory silk saree-gown and a peach-toned bustier gown, which were widely praised by fans and fashion observers.
The viral moment began when Alia posted an Instagram reel showcasing her Cannes look.
While most comments were positive, one user attempted to mock her visibility at the international event, writing, “What a pity, no one noticed you,” along with a laughing emoji. Alia responded calmly but firmly, replying, “Why pity love? You noticed me :).”
Her response quickly gained attention online, with social media users praising her for handling criticism with confidence and grace.
Many described her comeback as both “classy” and “savage,” applauding her witty yet composed tone in addressing online trolling without escalating the exchange.
The incident came shortly after her second consecutive appearance at Cannes as a L’Oréal Paris global ambassador.
In addition to her ivory saree-gown look, she also appeared in a peach-toned gown that drew significant attention on social media and fashion platforms.
This year’s festival marks the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which began on May 12 and runs until May 23.
Alia had previously made her Cannes debut in a custom Schiaparelli gown, which also received widespread praise from fashion critics and fans alike.
Alia Bhatt brings Bridgerton vibe to Cannes
Actor Alia Bhatt continued her standout fashion run at the 79th Cannes Film Festival with a regal custom couture look by designer Tarun Tahiliani on her third day at the event.
The ensemble, styled by Rhea Kapoor, drew widespread attention for blending Victorian-era romance with Indian craftsmanship, earning praise from fans and fashion industry figures.
The outfit embraced a Bridgerton-inspired aesthetic, which Bhatt acknowledged in her Instagram caption, writing, “Dearest gentle reader.. it’s time to say,” echoing the tone of the popular series’ narrator.
The look featured a corset-inspired silhouette, structured draping, intricate woven panels, subtle embroidery, and a sweeping train.
Described by the atelier as “corseted chinoiserie,” the design combined archival chintz floral influences with heritage Indian draping techniques.
Bhatt accessorised the ensemble with polki and gemstone jewellery by Sunita Shekhawat, layered brooches, and a statement ring, completing the look with a lace fan.
Her styling included a sleek high bun and luminous makeup, reinforcing the refined, period-inspired aesthetic.
The appearance received strong reactions across social media and the entertainment industry, with comments from figures such as Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jacqueliene Fernandez, and Netflix India, all praising the look. Stylists described the outfit as balancing structure, softness, and timeless elegance.
Bhatt also attended other Cannes appearances as a L’Oréal Paris ambassador, including a powder blue gown worn for a film premiere.
This marks her second consecutive year at Cannes, following her debut in a Schiaparelli gown in 2025. (ANI)
