SHILLONG, May 15: While the Congress, NPP and VPP have already named their candidates for the upcoming Shillong Parliamentary by-election, the BJP has decided to wait for the official notification from the Election Commission of India (ECI) before announcing its nominee.
BJP spokesperson M. Kharkrang stated on Friday that the party will finalise its candidate once the election dates are made public.
He informed that four to five party leaders have already applied for the ticket.
In contrast, other major political players have already moved forward with their selections.
The Congress has named its state president, Vincent H. Pala, as its candidate. Similarly, the NPP is set to field Dr. DRL Nonglait, whilst the VPP has nominated its spokesperson, Batskhem Myrboh, for the upcoming by-election.
