Huma brings Banaras weave to Cannes

Huma Qureshi made a striking appearance at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, turning heads in a traditional Banarasi saree that celebrated Indian craftsmanship on a global stage.
The 39-year-old actor shared a series of photographs on Instagram, showcasing herself in a muted plum-hued saree featuring intricate gold zari work.
She completed the look with gold temple jewellery and minimal makeup, blending traditional elegance with contemporary styling.
Sharing her thoughts on the ensemble, Qureshi wrote, ‘From the ghats of Banaras to the French Riviera.’

Huma re-shared a picture of herself with Malek from the official Instagram handle of Red Sea Film Foundation, which had the “Women in Cinema” segment. The string of images also had actress Tara Sutaria posing with Nigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji. In the image, Huma is seen standing next to Malek. The two are seen smiling at the camera for a picture.

John Travolta surprised with honorary Palme d’Or

John Travolta was surprised with an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of his directorial debut Friday.
Thierry Fremaux, the festival’s artistic director, brought out the award for Travolta just before the screening of his Propeller One-Way Night Coach. A visibly moved Travolta clutched his chest while Fremaux presented the trophy.
‘You said this would be a special night, but I didn’t know it would mean this,’ Travolta said to Fremaux. ‘This is beyond the Oscar!’ exclaimed Travolta. (Agencies)
