Music composer Pritam Chakraborty has denied plagiarism allegations over the song Mashooqa from the upcoming film Cocktail 2.
The controversy began after social media users compared the track with the 1993 Italian song Se So Arrubate A Nonna by Bibi and Coco, claiming both tunes sounded nearly identical.
A Reddit post featuring a comparison video went viral, prompting renewed criticism and revisiting of past plagiarism accusations against Pritam.
In response, he dismissed the claims on Instagram, calling critics his “unpaid PR team” and mocking what he described as “imaginary similarities.”
Mashooqa is composed by Pritam with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and features vocals by Raghav Chaitanya and Mahmood Ruaa Kayy, with Italian portions performed by singer Mahmood.
The song is part of Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Homi Adajania and scheduled for release on June 19. (PTI)
