SHILLONG, May 27: The Department of Youth Affairs, in collaboration with MY Bharat, will host two high-level events at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong: the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” Conclave on May 28, followed by a two-day “Chintan Shivir – Purvottar” on May 29-30.
These initiatives are part of the Union Government’s vision to build an empowered and socially responsible youth ecosystem aligned with “Viksit Bharat @2047.” The events will bring together senior officials, academics, civil society organisations, and youth stakeholders from across the Northeast.
The “Nasha Mukt Yuva” Conclave on May 28 will address the rising challenge of substance abuse in the region. Given the Northeast’s geo-strategic vulnerabilities and trafficking routes, the conclave aims to mobilise youth as ambassadors for a drug-free India. Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, will address the participants. The programme will feature sessions on prevention and rehabilitation, ending with a collective “Nasha Mukti” pledge ceremony.
The “Chintan Shivir – Purvottar,” scheduled for May 29–30, is designed as a platform for brainstorming, policy alignment, and institutional strengthening.
The deliberations will include leadership sessions by IIM Shillong faculty, strategic discussions on annual action plans, and presentations on digital youth engagement through the MY Bharat portal.
The inaugural session on May 29 will be attended by Union Minister Dr. Mansuk Mandaviya, MoS Raksha Khadse, and Secretary of Youth Affairs Dr Pallavi Jain Govil.
