Budapest, May 28: Paris Saint-Germain stand on the verge of creating history as they prepare to face Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday.
A victory would make PSG only the second club to successfully defend the Champions League title since the competition was rebranded in 1992, following Real Madrid’s three consecutive triumphs from 2016 to 2018.
Under coach Luis Enrique, PSG have developed into one of Europe’s most dominant sides, blending attacking football with youthful energy and intensity. The French giants won their maiden Champions League crown last season with a record-breaking 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final.Despite previously relying on superstar names such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, PSG’s recent success has come through a younger, more balanced squad featuring players like Desire Doue, Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.Luis Enrique said his objective since arriving at the club has been to “make history” and insisted the team remains hungry for further success. While PSG chase back-to-back European titles, Arsenal are aiming to win the Champions League for the first time. Mikel Arteta’s side reached the final after overcoming PSG in last season’s semifinals and will look to produce an upset against the defending champions. (AP)
