Man gets 15 years of RI in POCSO case

SHILLONG, June 1: The Court of B Khriam, Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills, has sentenced one Rephius Thamar to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 15 years with fine of Rs 50,000 for an offence under section 3(a)/4 POCSO Act, 2012.
Section 3 of the Act defines legal parameters for penetrative sexual assault, while Section 4 prescribes the corresponding Punishment for the offence.
The case was registered with Khliehriat Women Police Station and investigated by WPSI S Kharsati. The accused was arrested and charge sheet was filed (Charge-Sheet No. l0 /2020) on August 18, 2020, by the investigating officer.
After completion of trial, the court convicted him vide order dated May 6, 2026.
