SHILLONG, June 3: The High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday issued notice to St. Edmund’s School principal, Bro Solomon Morris, in a contempt petition filed by Deepali Patel alleging non-compliance with a court order directing the restoration of her son’s admission.
The matter came up before the single bench of Justice Wanlura Diengdoh, who heard submissions from counsel for the petitioner, S. Deb.
The petitioner contended that the respondent had failed to comply with the directions issued by the court on May 22, 2026, thereby committing an act of contempt warranting judicial intervention.
At the hearing, Deb urged the court to issue notice to the respondent.
Appearing for Morris, advocate S. Chanda informed the court that he had been instructed to accept notice on behalf of the respondent and sought time to file the necessary authorisation and take appropriate steps in the matter.
Accepting the request, the court directed that the matter be listed after one week for the respondent’s response.
Meanwhile, the school is reportedly exploring the option of challenging the High Court judgment before a Division Bench.
