GUWAHATI, June 10: Assam panchayat and rural development minister, Atul Bora on Tuesday attended a video conference chaired by Union minister for rural development, Shivraj Chouhan, to discuss the allocation of funds under the VB-G RAM(G) Scheme and the preparedness for its nationwide rollout across rural India from July 1, 2026.
Bora expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union rural development minister for introducing the transformative initiative, which is poised to strengthen rural infrastructure, improve connectivity, enhance livelihood opportunities, and accelerate socio-economic development across rural India.
“Assam has been proposed an interim allocation of Rs 1,929.70 crore under the VB-G RAM(G) Scheme. This will provide a major boost to rural development initiatives and contribute significantly to the welfare and prosperity of our villages,” the minister stated.
During the meeting, Bora reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Assam to ensure the effective and timely implementation of this and other flagship central government schemes for the holistic and rapid development of rural Assam.
The video conference was also attended by ministers in charge of rural development from various states and Union Territories, senior officials of the central government, state governments and UTs.
