TURA, June 10: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA), South West Garo Hills, has informed that compensation awards for land acquired for the Tura Bypass National Highway Project have been finalized and the process of disbursing compensation to eligible landowners and interested persons has commenced.
According to an official notification, compensation payments will be made through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) following Aadhaar authentication. All affected landowners and interested persons have been advised to ensure that their bank accounts are linked with Aadhaar to facilitate the seamless transfer of compensation amounts.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office has further urged individuals who have not yet submitted their bank account details to do so immediately at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ampati, to avoid delays in receiving compensation.
The notification states that compensation amounts shall be deemed to have been paid after the expiry of sixty days from the date of publication of the notice, subject to Aadhaar authentication and successful linkage of bank accounts.
In addition, all landowners and persons interested in the acquired land have been requested to surrender possession of their respective land parcels within sixty days. The notice cautions that after the stipulated period, possession of the acquired land may be taken with the assistance of the Police Department in accordance with the provisions of the National Highways Act, 1956.
The Tura Bypass Project is a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and enhancing transportation efficiency in the Garo Hills region.
