SHILLONG, June 24: The Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Pynursla, has issued a fresh public notice for temporary traffic diversion on the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem road stretch due to ongoing construction works.
Commuters have been advised to use the alternative route via Laitlyngkot – Iew Mawiong – Umthli – Nongthymmai – Laitkynsew NH Point. The road will remain closed for construction from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the day and 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM at night.
The diversion via Laitlyngkot–Pomlum is restricted to light and medium vehicles only, while traffic from Pomlum to Mawlieh is open to all vehicles, including heavy motor vehicles. Movement from both ends of the affected stretch will be permitted until 10:30 AM, after which construction will begin.
With the monsoon in full swing, authorities have urged commuters to exercise extreme caution, avoid non-essential travel during or after heavy rainfall, and especially stay off the roads at night.
