SHILLONG, June 26: The post-mortem examination of a community dog found dead inside the Circuit House compound has been completed, with samples and findings set to be sent for forensic analysis as police continue their investigation into the incident.
The dog’s body was recovered on June 25 by personnel from the Kench’s Trace Beat House with assistance from the Shillong Municipal Board.
Police subsequently coordinated the post-mortem examination, which was conducted on June 26 at the Veterinary Hospital in the presence of witness Josephine Hujon.
According to information available, the post-mortem report has been submitted to the police.
The samples and findings will now be forwarded to a forensic laboratory to determine the exact cause of death and ascertain whether any toxic substances were involved.
Following the examination, the Shillong Municipal Board assisted volunteer Buddha Dey in taking the dog’s remains for burial.
The forensic test results are expected next week and are anticipated to provide further clarity to investigators.
Police are continuing their probe, while those assisting in the case have expressed appreciation for the prompt action taken by the police and other departments in facilitating the investigation.
