Man killed in Nongpoh hit-and-run

NONGPOH, June 29: A 50-year-old man was killed on the spot after being struck by a speeding truck in a hit-and-run accident on National Highway-6 at Mawkapiah, Nongpoh, on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Christopher Diengdoh. According to sources, the accident occurred around 7:30 pm while Diengdoh was attempting to cross the highway. The truck, which was travelling towards Shillong, hit him and fled the scene. Police have launched an investigation to trace the vehicle and identify the driver. The victim’s body was shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for legal formalities.
