JH school wins quiz competition

JOWAI, July 4: Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School emerged as the champion of the Amlarem Golden Jubilee Quiz Competition held on Friday at the Amlarem C&RD Block Training Hall.
The event was organised by the Office of the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO) in collaboration with the Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies (SRCS) to mark 50 years of the Amlarem Sub-Division and the 5th Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation.
The competition featured teams from Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School, Ka Syiem Jingsuk Higher Secondary School, Padu Higher Secondary School and Nongtalang Government Higher Secondary School. After three rounds, Sohkha Government Higher Secondary School secured the top spot with 25 points, followed by Nongtalang Govt Higher Secondary School with 20 points and Ka Syiem Jingsuk Higher Secondary School with 10 points.
The event was attended by West Jaintia Hills District School Education Officer Dr. W. Sumer and Amlarem BDO Dr. D. Lyngdoh as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
In her address, Dr. Sumer stressed the importance of quality education in shaping responsible citizens and encouraged students to remain disciplined and committed to learning.
On the other hand, Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies WB Pariat spoke on the theme ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation), and noted the role of the cooperative movement in empowering rural communities and driving sustainable growth.
The programme also included a gesture of environmental awareness, with dignitaries being presented with living plant bouquets.
