Meghalaya starts initiative to bridge communication gap in edn sector

SHILLONG, July 4: The state government has constituted the Meghalaya Education Connect Team (MECON) to improve communication and stakeholder engagement within the education sector.
According to a notification from the Education department, the team will act as a platform to coordinate more effectively with students, teachers, parents, school management committees and local communities.
The initiative is designed to support the implementation of ongoing educational reforms.
The 14-member team is headed by Veveane Sayo as Team Lead. It includes officials and communication professionals from various departments, alongside all District School Education Officers (DSEOs) and Sub-Divisional School Education Officers (SDSEOs).
MECON is tasked with sharing information on government policies, promoting community participation and strengthening digital outreach.
The team, which is scheduled to meet at least once a week, will also collect public feedback to improve transparency and accountability in the sector.
Meanwhile, secretarial and logistical support for the group will be provided by MPOWER.
