SHILLONG, July 15: A bomb scare triggered brief panic in the busy Khyndai Lad area on Wednesday morning after passers-by spotted an unattended bag along the roadside and suspected it contained explosives.
Around 11.30 am, the information was immediately relayed to the police. Acting swiftly, police personnel rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and temporarily halted vehicular and pedestrian movement as a precautionary measure.
After inspection, the bag was found to contain no explosive material. The scare proved to be a hoax.
The owner later arrived at the spot and claimed the bag, allowing normalcy to resume. The brief disruption had caused some traffic congestion in the area before police gave the all-clear signal.
