To mark Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026, Yogamaya Ashram in Laban, Shillong, will organise a day-long Uday Asta Harinaam Sankirtana on Sunday. The programme will begin with an Adhibasa Kirtan at 7 PM on Saturday, featuring the Madan Gopal Sampraday from Guwahati, led by Gobindo Lal Brajabashi (Ajit Babaji). The main Sankirtana will commence at 5:30 AM on Sunday at the ashram premises in Three Pine Colony. Prasad will be distributed to all devotees following the conclusion of the event. The ashram has invited the public to attend the celebrations.
Condolence
The Gorkha Association, Shillong, in a meeting held on Thursday condoled the death of (L) Pynskhemlang Mawthoh, Merius Khyriem, Briastar Kharmunuid, Sunil Thakuri and Umesh Thakuri, who lost their lives in a tragic incident in Lapalang recently. The association also recognised the supreme sacrifice of the Thakuri brothers. A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to those that passed away.
