Book launch

A new book exploring the historical and cultural relationship between the Khasi-Jaintia and Karbi communities will be launched on Saturday at Karbi Hemtun (Karbi Anglong Guest House), Laban. The book, titled Khasi-Jaintias and Karbis: From Symbiotic History to an Ongoing False Dispute—Karbi Youth Festival as the Confluence of Two Communities, is authored by Hirolfsberg Rongphar, a PhD scholar from the Department of History at Assam University, Diphu Campus. The launching ceremony, scheduled for 11 am, will be attended by Paiem Laborious Manik S. Syiem as the chief guest and retired IAS officer Jones Ingti Kathar as the guest of honour. Special guests for the event include KSU Assam University unit president Deivica Dkhar and Karbi Students Association, Shillong, president John Engti Kathar.

Condolence

The Gorkha Secondary School Alumni Association held a meeting on Friday to condole the demise of its life member, Surendra Thapa, who passed away at a hospital in Kurseong. During the meeting, members observed two minutes of silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
