MAWKYRWAT, July 19: The VPP-led Executive Committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has reinstated Nangtei Sing Syiemiong as the Syiem of Hima Langrin, three years after he was suspended by the previous administration.
With this decision, the KHADC also announced that the tenure of Bryllyenhenry Syiemiong, who had been serving as the Acting Syiem of Hima Langrin, has ended.
Addressing a gathering of Myntris, Sordars and residents at Phlangdiloin on Sunday, Syiemiong stated that his reinstatement follows an inquiry led by the Judicial Magistrate of the District Council Court, Mawkyrwat.
The probe cleared him of all charges and concluded there was no evidence of administrative mismanagement or misuse of funds.
Responding to allegations of “double authority” within the Hima involving the office of the Syiem and the Management Board, Syiemiong clarified that the Board’s role is strictly limited.
He explained that the Management Board is only responsible for two specific plots of land—Law Lyngngam Tila and Pynden Tanglieh—and does not interfere with the general governance of the Hima.
