New Delhi, July 21: National record-holder Tejas Shirse has made it clear that he is targeting nothing less than gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Asian Games, insisting that winning is his only objective.
The 23-year-old hurdler, who recently set a new Indian record of 13.27 seconds in the men’s 110m hurdles to qualify for the Commonwealth Games, said he is focused solely on standing atop the podium.“Winning is the only goal. I want to be the best in the world, and that’s the mindset I carry into every competition,” Shirse said.His qualification came after a remarkable comeback from a serious ankle injury that kept him out of action for four months. Initially, his support team had ruled out a Commonwealth Games qualification bid, but Shirse remained determined, calling his comeback “Mission Miracle.”
The gamble paid off as he not only qualified for Glasgow but also secured a place at the Asian Games. (IANS)
