Shillong, July 21: Pipilmoris Wanniang has cleared the Upgradation Practical Examination 2026 and has therefore been upgraded to a Category 5 football referee.
This was informed by the All India Football Federation on Tuesday. Category 5 referees and assistant referees are eligible to officiate all national-level matches.
The Meghalaya Football Association is engaged in a dedicated drive, in close collaboration with the Meghalaya government, for a comprehensive upliftment of the sport in the state, from the grassroots to senior competition, the women’s game, upskilling of match officials.In the last few months two other officials had also attained Category 5 status – referee Pynskhemhame Mawthoh and assistant referee Jespar Syiemlieh.
