Couple protests in front of MP minister’s Indore residence
Indore, July 22: Police on Wednesday detained a social worker and his wife for allegedly staging an unauthorised protest in front of Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s residence in Indore in solidarity with the CJP agitation. The minister was not present at his residence in the Nanda Nagar area as he was attending the monsoon session of the assembly in Bhopal. Pardeshipura police station in-charge RD Kanwa said the couple was protesting in front of the minister’s home without permission and could have caused chaos on the public road. “They have been detained and are being questioned,” he added. Activist Prahlad Pandey and his wife, Sangeeta Pandey, had reached outside Vijayvargiya’s home in support of the ongoing student protest in Delhi, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam. Amravati cops arrest POCSO case accused ashram abbot
Amravati, July 22: Police arrested an absconding head priest of a religious ashram in Maharashtra’s Amravati district who was booked under the POCSO Act and on charges of rape, police said on Wednesday.The accused, identified as Dattagiri Guru Jairamji Maharaj of Anand Math, was arrested on Tuesday after Chandur railway police on Sunday registered a case under sections 64(2) (rape) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Various provisions of the POCSO Act were also invoked, an official said. He was produced before the Amravati court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The survivor, in her complaint, alleged that she first met Jairamji Maharaj in 2014 during an event, and started living with him since 2016 when she was a minor, according to the FIR. (PTI)
