CM LEAD Fellowship
SHILLONG, July 27: The Hynniewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) on Monday urged the Meghalaya government to immediately review the selection process for the Meghalaya CM LEAD Fellowship, objecting to the provision that reserves four of the 12 fellowship positions for candidates from outside the state.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Minister through the Officer on Special Duty, SSA-SEMAM, the HYC said the government-funded fellowship, which aims to strengthen Meghalaya’s education sector, should prioritise deserving indigenous youth.
The organisation appreciated the initiative to improve public education through the fellowship programme, but expressed concern that allocating one-third of the positions to non-local candidates would deprive qualified local youth of opportunities.
According to the HYC, fellows will be required to work closely with district administrations, Samagra Shiksha, DERT, schools, teachers and local communities across the state.
