NDFB ultras killed; trader rescued

Guwahati: Two hardcore NDFB-Songbijit militant were killed by the Army troops of Red Horn Division near Sulekhaguri, under Runikhata police station, in Chirang district of Assam on Sunday.

A trader, Sushil Deb, kidnapped by the group from Bongaigaon about one month back, was rescued from the clutches of the terrorist, during the course of the operation, a defence statement said here.

The rescued person was in a bad state due to the inhuman treatment meted out to him by the terrorists during his detention and was immediately given first aid by the Army personals, it added.

One INSAS Rifle which was taken away by the terrorist of the same group from the perssonel of the Ecological Task Force in October, used by them for protection against wild animals, was also recovered in the operation.

One M16 Rifle, one AK47 Assault Rifle, one INSAS Rifle, two Pistols, large quantity of ammunition and few mobiles were recovered from the terrorists. (UNI)
