New Police system in Guwahati from today

Guwahati:With expan-ding limits and growing challenges, Assam’s main city Guwahati will embrace the much- awaited Police Commissionerate system on Thursday ending the 10-year-old administration of Senior Superintendent of Police.

Guwahati will join a few select cities in the country that will have a Police Commissioner for which current Additional Director General of Police (TAP) Jyotirmoy Chakravarty has been appointed. Today is current SSP Anand Prakash Tiwari’s last day in office.

The first SSP of Guwahati was Late R Vijaya Krishna from February 2005 to August 2005. He became again the SSP of the city between January 2007 and November 2008.(PTI)
