SHILLONG: KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum has refuted allegations that the Council did not cooperate with the Rowell Lyngdoh-led Committee constituted by the State Government to examine the existing Benami Transaction Act, 1980, and the Tenants Verification Draft Bill.”We could not attend the meeting of the Committee since we were pre-occupied with the Winter Session of the Council but we are on the job to prepare our views and suggestions to be submitted to the Committee shortly,” Nongrum said here on Friday.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh had stated that the reports will be submitted to the State Government without incorporating the views and suggestions of the KHADC and the JHADC as members of both the Councils had failed to attend the meetings called by the Committee to discuss the two bills.
